Ali on "Week end games" http://forum.cern-rugby.ch/topic.php?id=1622#post-8229 Mon, 06 Sep 2010 16:36:26 +0000 Ali 8229@http://forum.cern-rugby.ch/ As with everyseason since I've been here the start of the season is always slow with some taking longer to come back from holidays etc than others.Even though we've had 40 at one training session, and over 60 different players we're still missing training time together as a collective unit. It's interesting to note that of regular first team players we've only had 9 who have made more than 4 training. From those who play between both teams, it's 6 and of 2nd team and social players it's again 6. Most of those have been to different sessions.The sad thing about the two training matches is the team consisted of a real mix of 1st and 2nd team players and those who never or rarely train, and having a mismatch of levels and those who know and want to play the new game plays playing with those who haven't even seen them makes things very difficult, not just for the coaches but those on the pitch. In the Alba match things gradually improved with the 3rd 20 minutes of play showing real signs of how effective our style of attack can be, and the thing most people took from that match, was with practive the systems can work but there was also a lack of aggresion and communication in certain areas. This weekends match we had players playing out of position, guys who have never played before and everyone trying to make the best of what was a difficult position to find outselves in in hot conditions. Even though the matches themselves certainly weren't ideal a few players have really stood up and lead from the front and shown their class. Reno mentioned above, Kiwi Matt as captain, Richard making an outstanding debut playing in his first matches, to Jeremia's man of the match against Alba, though in all honesty all of those who have made the effort to play could warrant a mention in some form or other. But this is not how a team is built on individual performances but as a collective and this is what we are clearly missing. We are going to need to identify those who are wishing to play a more social game of rugby not to worried about training and play for the seconds to those are willing to learn and aspire to make the first team, compete and see the club do well. At the moment, having asked a couple of times for people to fill in the doodle on the web to let us know availabilities we certainly do not have enough players for the two teams for this weekend, looking at the number who have filled it in. This we will be talking about at training this week, and identifying who is willing to compete and fight to those who don't. I think both games were similar, we had great, good and bad moments and we made a lot of mistakes in both matches. I guess the highlight of these two games was the 80m play against Alba. Phase after phase and "it's a magnificent try". Everything went right (what we have been training on) on that play. And like I said, individual mistakes and mistakes as whole kind of let us down. Nous avons atteint les playoffs LNA pour la première fois de l’histoire du club – nous devons tout mettre en œuvre et nous donner les moyens de gagner ce quart de finale, et aller plus loin ! Pour ça, nous avons besoin de TOUS les joueurs du club à l’entraînement cette semaine (1ère ET 2ème équipe), mardi et jeudi. Nous allons jouer des matchs à l’entraînement, qui permettront aux entraîneurs de sélectionner l’équipe pour samedi. TOUS les joueurs sont donc requis, afin que l’on puisse constituer deux équipes pour ces matchs, s’entraîner correctement et préparer ce match capital !
